Ari Karen is the Founder of SCP and is actively involved in the business development and growth of the company. He also is a Principal at Offit Kurman law firm, the parent company of SCP.
Mr. Karen’s practice is diverse, representing clients on matters concerning banking regulations, Dodd Frank financial reform laws, contractual disputes, employment and labor statutes, wage-hour class actions, employment discrimination and fair lending matters, whistleblower complaints and non-competition claims, among others.
Heather Clark joined SCP in January of 2019. Heather has over 17 years of experience in the mortgage and title insurance industries. Prior to joining SCP, Heather was an Executive Vice President, Compliance Officer, and Associate General Counsel at a nationwide mortgage company. Heather graduated cum laude from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Political Science, and received her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in D.C., Texas, and Virginia.
Andrea N. Coffee joined SCP in July 2015 as Vice President of Compliance. She presently advises clients on federal and state mortgage origination compliance matters. Prior to joining SCP, Andrea was a managing attorney and vice president of operations at a mid-size national law firm. She has over 8 years of experience representing institutional lenders and mortgage servicers in bankruptcy, litigation, foreclosure, and real estate transactions.
Andrea graduated cum laude from Marshall University in 2004 with a B.A. in History and from Ohio Northern University College of Law with a J.D. in 2007. She is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and North Carolina. In her spare time, Andrea enjoys playing golf and tennis, traveling, and volunteering with seniors.
Micki Diana joined SCP in July 2017 as VP of Consulting Services. She has over 20 years of experience as a Mortgage Compliance Officer, spending the majority of her career working for mortgage banking institutions and mortgage lenders and has spent the last five years as a consultant in the field.
Theresa Ballard is a Compliance Management Consultant. She currently serves as compliance consultant and quality control trainer to many organizations including The National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) and California Association of Mortgage Brokers (CAMB).
Theresa works closely with State and Federal Auditing Agencies and has acted as an Advisor to several State and Federal Agencies, including CSBS, AARMR and NMLS&R. Prior to Strategic Compliance Partners, Theresa was the CEO of BFO Solutions, a compliance company offering compliance audits, post-secondary closing audits, loan delivery and loan guarantee services. Theresa has had a long and distinguished career in the mortgage and finance industry and is recognized as an industry expert in federal compliance.
Lore Haines joined SCP in March of 2019. Lore started her career in mortgage lending in 2002 and brings with her 17 years of industry experience. Prior to joining SCP, Lore spent five years as Vice President of Compliance at a mid-sized lender. She also worked for a national mortgage company for 12 years, during which time she gained invaluable expertise in diverse aspects of mortgage lending. Her experience includes state and federal mortgage compliance, licensing, vendor management, LOS support, operations, quality control, TPO oversight, and secondary marketing.
Lore resides in the Philadelphia area and enjoys spending time with her husband, two boys, and extended family and friends. On the weekends you will find her on the sidelines cheering for her boys’ soccer teams.
Heather Anders joined SCP in February 2018 as on Onsite Compliance Officer. She has over 20 years of mortgage industry experience serving in a variety of roles from sales and training to Compliance and risk management. She has authored company branded conventional and FHA Underwriting guidelines and assisted with system implementation of new credit policy and agency requirements. Her passion is documenting requirements, working with the business to determine appropriate controls, and finding easier ways to execute processes.
In her spare time, she loves to watch movies with her family, running with her dogs, and relaxing outdoors.
Hysen “Chris” Jakova moved to Nashville, TN from Dallas, TX. He studied criminology at the University of North Carolina and Biology at the University of Hartford, and proceeded to work for his family’s commercial real estate firm. After gaining significant experience in real estate he began to work for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a loan servicing contractor to oversee FHA servicer and loss mitigation compliance. After 5 years of working for the Department, Chris joined Strategic Compliance Partners as an onsite consultant in June of 2017.
Cassandra (Cassie) Schmalz joined SCP in October 2017 as an Onsite Compliance Consultant; she has over 6 years of mortgage compliance and legal experience.
Cassie graduated from University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Workforce Management and earned her J.D. from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where she was a member of Moot Court, Law Review, and the Symposium Committee. She is licensed to practice law in Michigan.
In her spare time, Cassie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and traveling.
Joe Evans joined SCP in August 2018 as an Onsite Compliance Consultant. He’s been in the mortgage industry since 2010, with most of that time spent in front-line compliance auditing and managing for both a mortgage broker and a credit union.
Joe studied and graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing. He is a Certified Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) whose strengths lie in mortgage origination compliance.
He lives in the Central Valley of California with his wife, son, & daughter and enjoys trying new foods (the spicier the better), skiing (downhill, of course), and boardgames.
Ashley Jumpp joined SCP in May 2018 as an Onsite Compliance Consultant. She has over 14 years' experience in the financial industry.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies at Austin College concentrating on Business Administration and English. She graduated from Texas A&M University School of Law (formerly Texas Wesleyan School of Law) in 2009. She is licensed to practice in the State of Texas. She is admitted to practice in U.S. Northern Federal District of Texas and the U.S. Eastern Federal District of Texas. In 2013, she earned her Masters of Business Administration from Texas A&M University.
Ashley resides in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex with her family enjoying the very different things both the Dallas and Fort Worth cultures have to offer.
Carrie Powers joined SCP in March 2019 as on Onsite Compliance Officer. She has been working within the mortgage industry for almost 20 years. Carrie brings with her experience in most major facets of Mortgage Origination, Servicing as well as Default and Loss Mitigation, serving in roles that covered Closing, Operations Management, IT, Project Management, Compliance and Risk.
She previously had the pleasure to work work with a DeNovo bank establishing their lending policies, procedures, installation of their software in order to open their doors for the first time. She equally enjoys working with established lenders to find holes in their existing policies and procedures to minimize their risk exposure.
In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering with Special Olympics Pennsylvania & Honor Flight Philadelphia. She similarly loves going on long hikes, swimming, and finding fun new exercises to do with her family (even if they don’t always agree with the “fun” part).
